Who are the Knights of Columbus? The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic fraternal service organization. The organization was founded by Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1882, it is named in honor of the navigator Christopher Columbus. Originally serving as a mutual benefit society to low-income immigrant Catholics, it developed into a fraternal service organization dedicated to providing charitable services, promoting Catholic education and actively defending Catholicism around the World. The Order has been called "the strong right arm of the Church," and has been praised by popes, presidents and other world leaders, for support of the Church, programs of evangelization and Catholic education, civic involvement and aid to those in need. The Knights was formed to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members and their families. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief and public relief works. General Pulaski Council #3323 raises money to aid our parish community needs through social events. We also raise money for Relay for Life and participate in the Knight of Columbus Annual Tootsie Roll Drive to aid individuals with intellectual disabilities. The General Pulaski Council of the Knights of Columbus services St. Florian, St. Columba, and Mother of God Church. General Pulaski Council was organized June 4, 1950.
Practical Catholic men, aged 18 or older who attend St. Columba, St. Florian, or Mother of God Church who are interested in becoming a Brother Knight in the General Pulaski Council are encouraged to contact us by email at: Knights@Hegewisch.Net.
